During a reception in Hanoi on Wednesday for Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, Mr. Lam highlighted the profound significance of cooperation in addressing the consequences of war. He urged the US to expand support projects, particularly those aimed at strengthening forensic identification capacity and providing records and archival materials to accelerate the search, recovery, and identification of Vietnamese martyrs’ remains.
The Vietnamese leader also reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to facilitating efforts to account for US personnel listed as missing in action (MIA).
Admiral Paparo pledged that the US Indo-Pacific Command would continue working closely with Vietnam in implementing humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and maritime law-enforcement capacity-building programs.
He reiterated the US’s commitment to helping Vietnam address the consequences of war, including support for the country’s 500-day campaign to search for, recover, and identify the remains of Vietnamese martyrs.
