In total, Vietnam welcomed 10.6 million international visitors from January to May 2026, a five-month high, indicating that Vietnam remains an attractive destination for international travellers.

Vietnam's economic hubs, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, recorded good performance. Hanoi received around 15 million visitors in the first five months, including more than 4 million international visitors, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed nearly 5 million international visitors in the reviewed period.

Observers said the large number of international arrivals at the beginning of the year signals a new growth cycle. Vietnam’s tourism sector is moving from the recovery phase towards improving growth quality and competitiveness.
