September alone saw 1.7 million foreign arrivals, a 16% increase from the same period last year.

More than two-thirds of international visitors came from Asia, followed by Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. China and the Republic of Korea remained Vietnam’s largest source markets, together accounting for nearly 40% of total arrivals. China topped the list with 3.9 million visitors, followed by the Republic of Korea with 3 million.

Vietnam’s tourism growth came despite continued challenges facing the global travel industry, including geopolitical tensions, high transport and energy costs, intensifying competition among destinations, and rapidly changing travel demand.

Alongside the increase in visitor numbers, Vietnam’s tourism competitiveness has also improved. According to a report released by the World Economic Forum (WEF) on September 25, Vietnam scored 4.15 points in the Travel and Tourism Development Index, rising seven places to 52nd globally.
