At the ministry’s regular press briefing in Hanoi, she was responding to questions about the US State Department’s 2026 Trafficking in Persons Report, released on October 9.
Hang said Vietnam was stepping up efforts to prevent and combat human trafficking, including through its Program on Human Trafficking Prevention and Combat for the 2026–2030 period, with a vision to 2035 and the effective implementation of its 2024 Law on Human Trafficking Prevention and Combat. Authorities have also intensified investigations, prosecutions and trials of trafficking cases, while strengthening victim identification and support.
Vietnam has also adopted a plan to implement the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration for 2026–2035, aiming to address emerging migration challenges and prevent human trafficking linked to international migration.
Ms. Hang said Vietnam would continue close cooperation with countries, including the United States, through information sharing and dialogue to promote a more comprehensive understanding of its efforts and achievements. She said this cooperation was consistent with the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
