During the visit, members of the Vietnamese community and embassy officials inquired about the team's health, living conditions, and the progress of its operations, while also learning about the challenges faced by rescuers working in difficult terrain and harsh weather conditions. They also shared updates on the lives, work, and studies of Vietnamese nationals living in Venezuela.
Speaking on behalf of the rescue team, Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Director of the Search and Salvage Department under the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Head of the Vietnamese rescue mission, said the team remains highly disciplined, focused, and committed despite the demanding conditions on the ground. He reaffirmed the team's determination to successfully complete the international humanitarian mission entrusted to it by the Party, the State, and the military.
On Saturday (local time), the Vietnamese search and rescue team continued operations in Playa Grande, La Guaira State, searching for victims trapped beneath the rubble following Venezuela's twin earthquakes.
During the day's mission, the team recovered nine more bodies, bringing the total number of earthquake victims recovered by the Vietnamese contingent to 54 since they came to the site.
In addition to search and recovery efforts, the team assisted local residents in moving personal belongings and continued providing free medical examinations and medication to affected communities.
