Vietnam recorded 18.6 billion AI app sessions during the six-month period, more than doubling the 8.82 billion sessions recorded in the same period last year. Time spent on AI applications on mobile devices also rose significantly, reaching 704 million hours in the first half of 2026. Compared with the first half of 2025, when Vietnamese users spent 300 million hours on AI apps, total usage time increased by more than twofold.
Spending on AI applications also surged. Revenue from in-app purchases (IAPs) increased from 7.44 million USD in the first half of 2025 to 14.4 million USD in the first half of this year. It reflects a growing willingness among users not only to download and try AI applications but also to pay for premium features and advanced services.
ChatGPT and Gemini continued to have the largest monthly active user bases in Vietnam, according to the latest rankings for the first quarter of 2026. Ranking third was AI Hay, an AI application developed by a Vietnamese company, which outperformed several international AI products, including Grok and DeepSeek, in terms of monthly active users.
