Last September, Vietnam earned 69 out of a total 150 points on the Rating.

The Canada-based Center for Law and Democracy in line with the Organisation Towards Transparency, the national contact of Transparency International in Vietnam, conducted the legal framework review.

The improvement in score and ranking is attributed to the Vietnamese government’s promulgation of a decree to clarify some regulations on the communication and dissemination of the right to information pursuant to the 2016 Law on Access to Information

The Organisation Towards Transparency has supported the Centre for Law and Democracy to review and supplement regulations directly relating to the protection of the RTI with legal precedent.
