Meeting with IPU President Tulia Ackson, the former President of the Tanzanian Parliament, Mr. Dien asked her to promote economic, trade, and investment ties between Vietnam and Tanzania to match their strong political relationship.

Ms. Ackson thanked Vietnam for cooperating with and supporting the IPU, praised the high proportion of female deputies in Vietnam’s National Assembly, and said she hopes the Vietnamese legislature will host future IPU events.

She said the IPU is ready to provide tailored capacity-building programs for parliamentarians and cooperate in areas such as applying artificial intelligence to parliamentary activities.

Meanwhile, IPU Secretary General Anda Filip affirmed her commitment to continued close cooperation between the IPU and Vietnam’s National Assembly.

Mr. Dien called for greater support for Vietnam’s efforts to strengthen its legislative and supervisory capacity, enhance its participation in the IPU’s specialized mechanisms, and organize thematic forums and other activities in Vietnam.
