The prize jury unanimously voted on Friday to confer the prestigious award on the Vietnamese leader, citing his role in strengthening peace and cooperation among nations.
The jury also recognized Mr. Lam’s contributions to Vietnam’s development, his efforts to advance global justice and respect for international law, and his role in promoting the peace-loving, humane, and dialogue-oriented traditions of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam.
The Lev N. Tolstoy International Peace Prize is a prestigious international award established by Russia to recognize individuals and organizations that have made exceptional contributions to peace, dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding among nations.
Named after the renowned Russian writer and philosopher Lev Tolstoy, the prize reflects the enduring influence of his ideals of peace, nonviolence, and moral responsibility, which continue to inspire people around the world.
The award has now been presented for the third time. The recipient is selected by an international council comprising prominent political, social, and cultural figures from Argentina, Belarus, China, France, India, Japan, Russia, and South Africa.
