According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, Vinh Long’s aquaculture area has totaled more than 94,000 hectares, with production reaching nearly 509,000 metric tons. Of this, high-tech shrimp farming covers more than 6,300 hectares, producing over 88,000 metric tons.

In the first nine months of the year, the province’s seafood exports were valued at an estimated 94 million US dollars, up more than 36% year-on-year.

Lam Van Tan, director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: “The department is working on a plan for aquaculture development through 2030, with a vision toward 2050. At the same time, we are accelerating digital transformation in aquaculture. This includes building databases of farming areas, issuing and managing farming area identification codes, applying automated environmental monitoring systems, providing early disease warnings, and strengthening product traceability.”
