The programme Return to the Sacred Moment will be held from August 19-21 to mark the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, as well as the 50th anniversary of the renaming of Saigon-Gia Dinh as Ho Chi Minh City.
Through VR technology, visitors will come back to Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi on September 2, 1945, and join the crowds to listen to President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence.
The technology will help to recreate the jubilant atmosphere on the day Vietnam gains its independence and allow visitors to immerse in the historic milestone.
The selection of the special national relic Independence Palace holds special significance because the site is linked to Vietnam’s national reunification in April 1975.
The re-enaction event with VR technology debuted in Hanoi to mark the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2) in 2025 and attracted over 35,000 visitors. It was later organized in Quang Ninh province in September.
From May 17-19 this year, the programme was brought to the Kim Lien Special National Relic Site in Nghe An province, President Ho Chi Minh’s hometown, where more than 3,000 people experienced the VR-based historical recreation.
The upcoming edition at the Independence Palace is expected to welcome around 10,000 visitors over the three-day period from August 19-21.
The programme is jointly organized by VTC News, an arm of Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and the Institute of Information and Communications Technology (CDIT) under the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology.
