Running through November 2026, the initiative will focus on surveillance, testing, infection control, clinical care, emergency coordination, and community engagement, aiming to contain the outbreak and prevent further spread across the region.
The Democratic Republic of Congo has reported a sharp rise in Ebola cases, with confirmed infections reaching 452, up by 71 from the previous day. The death toll has also increased to 82, after 18 additional fatalities were recorded.
The country declared its 17th Ebola outbreak on May 15. Since then, the virus has spread across three northeastern provinces, with Ituri province identified as the epicenter. Neighboring Uganda has also confirmed 16 Ebola cases, including one death.
