At the launching ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung said that as one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change, Vietnam must protect the environment and reform its development model toward a greener, more sustainable, and more adaptable path.
Mr. Dung said: “A greener, cleaner and more beautiful Vietnam must be built through concrete actions and the unity of the entire political system, the business community, and all people. Protecting the environment today means protecting the future of the country and the lives of future generations. I believe the movement ‘All people join hands to protect the environment for a green, clean and beautiful Vietnam’ will spread throughout society, contributing to building a fast-growing, sustainable, humane and prosperous country.”
Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai called on the community to begin with practical actions such as not littering, reducing the use of single-use plastics, planting trees, and sorting waste at source.
“With the spirit that ‘Every citizen is a green citizen – Every family is a green space – Every residential area, agency and organization is a green community,’ we believe the emulation movement will become a practical and regular movement nationwide. Every small action we take today will help create a greener future for tomorrow’s community,” said Ms. Hoai.
Following the launching ceremony, representatives of local fishermen signed environmental protection commitments, while participants joined a beach clean-up campaign at Cua Lo Beach and planted coconut trees at the Cua Lo coastal park.
