PM Hung addressed a national conference to express gratitude to national contributors and launched a movement to strengthen care for them on Thursday in Hanoi, where 310 delegates, including relatives of martyrs from 34 provinces and cities nationwide, were attending.
Speaking at the conference, the Prime Minister emphasized the policy paying debt of gratitude for the past 79 years. To date, more than 9.2 million national contributors have received preferential treatment and policies. Of these, 99% of their families have a living standard equal to or higher than the average living standard of the local population.
“We must continue to do even better in caring for wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, and those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution. Efforts should be made to consolidate the great national unity, strengthen the people's trust, educate the younger generation about patriotic traditions, and motivate the cause of national construction and defense in the new period,” the Prime Minister said.
He called on the whole society to respond to the movement to promote care for those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, towards the 80th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day in 2027.
Thursday’s event commemorated the 79th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27). Arriving at the National Convention Center in Hanoi very early, Colonel, Pilot Han Van Quang told reporters, "These days, I personally feel so sacred. During the years of resistance for independence, many of my comrades and fellow soldiers laid down their lives, and many were wounded. Now, the State's tribute to them is very meaningful to me. So much blood and sacrifice from my comrades and friends has been given so that today the country has peace, and the people can live in prosperity and happiness.”
