At a conference on promoting exports to support double-digit economic growth in Hanoi on Thursday, the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister said export promotion is one of the Government’s most urgent and important priorities.
He called on the Ministry of Industry and Trade to work closely with ministries, agencies and local authorities to develop timely policy responses and implement effective measures tailored to evolving economic conditions.
The Deputy Prime Minister outlined seven key priorities, including removing bottlenecks in production resources and industrial development; enhancing compliance with technical standards, traceability and sustainability requirements; addressing challenges related to finance, logistics and export-support infrastructure; streamlining administrative procedures; expanding markets and strengthening trade promotion and early-warning mechanisms; improving coordination among government agencies, localities, industry associations and businesses; and strengthening import-export management and analysis.
Mr. Tuc said: “We need to focus on production in the coming time. Stable production is the foundation for exports. We promote cooperation with foreign-invested enterprises while Vietnam’s industrial sector is still heavily concentrated in supporting industries. This makes it difficult to achieve export growth and greater economic self-reliance. The Ministry of Industry and Trade should study and submit a strategy to build a more autonomous export sector through 2030, with a vision to 2045.”
Vietnam’s export performance has remained strong despite forecasts of slower global trade growth. By mid-June 2026, Vietnam’s export turnover had reached nearly 240 billion USD, up more than 21% from a year earlier and already exceeding the annual export growth target.
