Do Cong Thinh, Director of the Ben Dam Port Management Board, said: “Today we launched a new ferry route allowing passengers to travel directly from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao, instead of transiting through nearby locations such as Vung Tau or Can Tho. Infrastructure in Con Dao has been upgraded, capable of receiving additional ferry routes.”
Since the beginning of this year, Ben Dam Port has operated passenger ferry routes connecting Con Dao with Tran De in Can Tho City and Vung Tau. In the first five months of the year, more than 470 ferry trips arrived at and departed from the port, carrying over 360,000 passengers.
Duong Quoc Te, Head of Operations at Ben Dam Port, said: “We handle between 6,000 and 7,000 arriving and departing passengers each day. The reception area becomes somewhat overcrowded during the tourism season because ferry services to Con Dao are concentrated mainly between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., when passenger traffic reaches its peak.”
