The Tan Thanh Border Guard Station has prepared a safety plan for tourist boats while the local authorities seek investors for an inland waterway terminal.
Passenger numbers will be limited to half the vessel’s capacity. For boats designed for 20 people, no more than 10 passengers will be allowed on each trip, as local rescue teams can support up to 10 people. Authorities will strictly handle violations of safety rules.
Lieutenant Colonel Dao Xuan Men, head of the Tan Thanh Border Guard Station, said, "When passengers travel each day, boat operators must notify the border guards so we can check the safety equipment."
Passengers must wear life jackets, he said, adding that "we also have personnel on standby to respond to any emergencies during the trips.”
