Vietnam’s clear and consistent position is that maritime disputes must be resolved through peaceful means, with full respect for diplomatic and legal processes, without the use or threat of force, and in accordance with international law, particularly the 1982 UNCLOS, Ms. Hang said.

“As a coastal state in the East Sea and an active member of UNCLOS, Vietnam has always demonstrated its goodwill in implementing the Convention and calls on all parties to fully comply with their obligations under it, including in defining maritime claims and exercising maritime rights, respecting the rights of other states, and cooperating to maintain peace, stability, security, safety, freedom of navigation and overflight, and good order in the East Sea in accordance with international law,” she said.
