According to analyses by several research organizations, a number of World Cup matches in the US have been played in temperatures above recommended safety thresholds.
To help spectators cope with the heat, organizers have installed large cooling fans, misting systems and additional shaded areas at fan zones across the US, Canada and Mexico.
In Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Miami, free water stations have been set up. Some fan zones are also providing complimentary sunscreen and dedicated rest areas for children and elderly visitors.
