Italian, French, German, and Portuguese media sung praises of Spain's performance. They all agreed that "La Roja" deserved the win and has ushered in a new era for world football.
France L'Equipe ran the headline "The new kings" with a photo of Spaniard Ferran Torres, who scored the decisive goal, on its front page. "Spain dominated an Argentina team that didn't take their first shot on goal until the 117th minute", the newspaper said.
Spain's Marca wrote "Kings of the world once again", adding that Spain's successful campaign is thanks to an emphasis on teamwork than individual brilliance and calling head coach Luis de la Fuente a symbol of a new era, and a legendary strategist who returned Spain to the summit of world football.
Germany’s Bild applauded Spain's persistence and resilience. "They kept the pressure on relentlessly and were rewarded for it"
The newspaper also highlighted the symbolic passing of the torch between Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal, describing the 19-year-old prodigy as the winner in a symbolic clash between the past and the future of world football.
