The brace takes Mbappé’s World Cup tally to 14 goals, moving him into a tie for third place on the tournament’s all-time scoring list alongside Gerd Müller. The French star has now surpassed legends such as Lionel Messi and Pelé.
Mbappé now trails only Miroslav Klose, who holds the record with 16 World Cup goals, and Ronaldo Nazário, who scored 15.
The 27-year-old striker also set another milestone, becoming the all-time leading scorer for the French national team with 58 international goals.
