They also paid tribute to the fallen soldiers recently exhumed and reinterred at the park.
War veteran Tran Thi Bich Hoi, 68, of Tan Phu ward, said: "I’m filled with joy and tears seeing the soldiers' remains being returned here. They gave their lives for Vietnam and its people. I’m extremely grateful and will always remember their sacrifice."
Do Thi Thanh Huong, a resident of Ho Chi Minh City, told VOV, "Hearing the news that they had found martyrs' remains here, we came to pay tribute. I hope their families will see them soon. We closely follow the search for fallen soldiers' remains to see how many more of our heroes have been brought home."
The people of Ho Chi Minh City came to say farewell to those who laid down their lives for the nation, and to remind their children that the peace they enjoy today was won through the sacrifices of those heroes.
