"Đừng đốt (Don't Burn)” directed by People's Artist Dang Nhat Minh will open the film week, followed by five other best-known revolutionary movies. From Wednesday to Friday, cinemas will offer two free screenings each day, with priority seating given to war veterans, national contributors and their families, members of the armed forces, youth union members, and students.
Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: "The six films to be screened are 'Đừng đốt' (Don't Burn), 'Mùi cỏ cháy' (The Scent of Burning Grass), 'Những người viết huyền thoại' (The Legend Makers), 'Đường xuyên rừng' (The Forest Route), 'Truyền thuyết về Quán Tiên' (The Legend of Quan Tien), and 'Bình minh đỏ' (Red Dawn). These films present a broad picture of the battlefield, the post-war period, and many other aspects of wartime. Each cinema will reserve one or two rows of seats for war veterans and beneficiaries of preferential policies who arrive without advance tickets. The Cinema Department, in cooperation with businesses, will present gifts to the national contributors and beneficiary families."
For the first time, all commercial cinemas will join in the national program to offer free screenings serving political communication and paying tribute to those who have rendered service to the country.
Dang Tran Cuong, Director General of the Cinema Department, said: "These revolutionary films inspire patriotism among young people and strengthen national pride among the Vietnamese people. What’s new this year is the participation of 14 film distributors and exhibitors. From July 22 to 24, they will offer 1,140 free screenings across the country."
The Cinema Department is coordinating with Viettel Telecom, the TV360 Television Service Centre, and mobile film projection teams from provincial and municipal cultural centres to organize screenings at state cinemas and mobile cinemas throughout Vietnam.
