Perched at nearly 1,600 meters above sea level, in the rugged mountains of Vietnam's northwest, the prairie unfolds into lush green grass, fresh mountain air, and stunning panoramic views. In recent years, Ta Xua has become a favorite stop for travelers exploring a region renowned for its sea of clouds and scenic trekking routes.
From the center of Ta Xua commune, visitors travel about 10 kilometers along winding mountain roads to arrive at a vast grassland. At various times of the day, the land reveals different charms. In the early morning, clouds drift gently across the mountainsides, covering the grass with a thin veil of mist. As the sun rises higher, the entire landscape comes alive with brilliant shades of forests. In the afternoon, the grassland is bathed in golden sunlight.
Pham Dieu Linh, a visitor from Hanoi, said: "Visiting the Ta Xua meadow, I feel as I’m on the Himalayas. The vast green mountains and rolling hills are truly breathtaking. When I came to Ta Xua, I was overwhelmed by the scenery."
No traffic noise, no urban pollution, there’s only a sense of tranquility rarely found in other tourist destinations. Many visitors choose to sit on the grass and enjoy a cup of hot coffee while admiring the sea of clouds, or simply chat with friends, to the accompaniment of birdsong and the fresh scent of mountain grass.
Vu Hong Phuong, a visitor from Nghia Lo ward, Lao Cai province, said: "The moment I arrived here, I was struck by the fresh, cool air. Everything is beautifully arranged, with plenty of picturesque spots to relax and take photos. The drinks are delicious and freshly prepared."
The grassland has become one of the attractions enriching Ta Xua commune's tourism offerings and pursuing the local development strategy of promoting tourism in parallel with preserving the natural landscape, protecting the environment and developing experience-based activities suited to the mountain terrain.
