(VOVworld)- The Military Library opened a book exhibition themed “Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the air- a 20th century heroic anthem” in Hanoi on Wednesday.

(VOVworld) - In late 1972, Vietnam and the US reached a treaty to end the war and restore peace in Vietnam. However, the US broke the agreement and sent B52 bombers to blitz Hanoi and Hai Phong. But, its 12-day and night air strike failed, forcing the administration of President Richard Nixon to negotiate and sign the Paris Accords on January 27, 1973 to withdraw all troops from Vietnam.

(VOVworld) – An exemplary campaign called “Dien Bien Phu in the air” was launched in the army at a ceremony in Hanoi on Monday.

(VOVworld) - Hanoi’s “Dien Bien Phu victory in the air” which defeated the US airforce 40 years ago has inspired composer Pham Tuyen to write a beautiful song praising the glorious victory. 40 years may have passed, but the song “Hanoi- Dien Bien Phu” in the air remains in the hearts of every Vietnamese person who remembers those 12 glorious days and nights.
