(VOVWORLD) - Doi Son pagoda, which literally translates to ‘pagoda on the Doi mountain,’ is a cultural symbol of Ha Nam province and a sacred place in the Red River Delta. It is one of the biggest Buddhist centers in northern Vietnam.

(VOVWORLD) - Gian Gua in Phong Dien district, Can Tho city, was recognized as an historical relic in 2013. “Gua” is a typical tree of the Mekong Delta regional ecology, similar to the fig tree, and “Gian” is the term for its canopy. The region used to house a revolutionary base during Vietnam’s resistance wars and is associated with land reclamation in the 19th century.

(VOVWORLD) - Hanoi was conferred the “City for Peace” prize by UNESCO during a ceremony in Bolivia’s capital, La Paz, in 1999. The award recognized Hanoi’s efforts to foster peace, development and social cohesion, whilst respecting the city’s treasured traditions. In the past decade, the city has adopted a smoke-free campaign with the aim of creating healthy environment and raising awareness of the harmful effects of smoking and second hand smoke.

(VOVWORLD) - Alexandre Yersin (1863-1943) was a Swiss-born French physician, bacteriologist, and adventurer. He had a great affection for Vietnam, especially Khanh Hoa province, which he considered his second homeland. Numerous places in Vietnam honor his contributions. One is the Alexandre Yersin Museum.

(VOVWORLD) - The Sam Mountain National Tourism Area in An Giang province is famous for its beautiful views and many spiritual sites. Rising out of the green fields of the Mekong Delta, Sam Mountain has become a place many people long to visit.

(VOVWORLD) - The Ho Chi Minh Trail along the Truong Son mountain range was the strategic transport route from the north to the southern combat zone during the American war. There remain traces of the glorious feats of arms and sacrifices by Vietnamese soldiers, young volunteers, and other people stationed near the battle front. Such relics have become popular tourist attractions.
