At the heart of Ho Chi Minh’s thought is the aspiration for national independence closely linked with socialism, aiming to ultimately achieve freedom, prosperity, and happiness for the people.

Party policies reflect the creative application of HCM thought

President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example has guided the Vietnamese people to significant historic achievements. From a poor, underdeveloped country before national renewal, Vietnam has become a middle-income developing nation with rapid economic growth and strong global integration.

From 1986 to 2023, Vietnam’s GDP growth averaged 6.5–7% annually, placing it among the world's top 35 economies and top 20 countries in trade volume. Vietnam ensures food security for over 100 million people and is a leading exporter of rice and agricultural products. These achievements can be attributed to the creative application of HCM’s thought to national independence, self-reliance, openness, and integration.

Ho Chi Minh’s thought about “taking the people as the roots” is clearly reflected in the Party’s social security and poverty reduction policies. National target programs on new rural development, sustainable poverty reduction, and socio-economic development in ethnic minority regions have been effectively implemented. A nationwide program is underway, aiming to eliminate substandard houses by 2025.

Inspiration for the nations journey in the new era

Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle continue to inspire national advancement. Strategies and plans for socio-economic development until 2030, with a vision to 2045, aim to build "a rich people, and a strong, democratic, equitable, and civilized country", a vision President Ho Chi Minh held throughout his life of a peaceful, united, and prosperous Vietnam.

Professor Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, said: "Ho Chi Minh's thought is an essential foundation for national development and defense until 2030, with a vision to 2045. It also provides the foundation for building and fine-tuning Party Congress documents and consolidating theories of reform policy in the upcoming tenure of the Party."

Following President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings, the Party and people of Vietnam are upholding a spirit of self-reliance and innovation to accelerate national industrialization and modernization. President Ho Chi Minh’s spirit of bold thinking, bold action, and wholehearted devotion to the nation and the people is inspiring the generations of today to pursue bigger goals and have greater aspirations to make Vietnam strong and prosperous.

Party General Secretary To Lam said: “Following President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings, the Party, army, and people are committed to maintaining national independence, pursuing socialism, promoting the conviction that “nothing is more precious than independence and freedom,” consolidating national unity under the Party’s leadership, using the strength of the times, and achieving the strategic goals set out for the 100th founding anniversaries of the Party and the nation. Despite all difficulties, we are determined to make Vietnam a rich, strong, equitable, democratic, and civilized country.”

The Vietnamese Party and State consistently advance Vietnam along the socialist path chosen by President Ho Chi Minh while taking resolute action and implementing strategic breakthroughs to create significant changes in the new era. Every step forward reflects the aspiration to fulfill President Ho Chi Minh’s vision of building a nation that is “ten times more beautiful” and “on a par with the world’s great powers.”

Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style continue to be invaluable assets for Vietnam on its development path. His legacy endures in every effort, every achievement, in the ongoing journey of national development and defense.
