Ceremony marks 80th anniversary of first National Assembly general election

(VOVWORLD) - The National Assembly holds a ceremony on Monday morning marking the 80th anniversary of the first General Election of the National Assembly of Vietnam on January 6, 1946. Held at the Dien Hong Chamber of the National Assembly House, the ceremony will be broadcast live on VOV1 channel.

This national-level event is of profound political and historical significance, aiming to widely promote the great meaning of the first General Election in 1946, an event that marked a turning point in Vietnam’s constitutional and legislative history.

The ceremony will be an opportunity for the entire Party, people and armed forces to review the history of the National Assembly, recognize achievements and valuable lessons from different revolutionary periods, thereby raising public awareness, strengthening people’s trust in the National Assembly and elected bodies, and promoting citizens’ mastery and responsibility in building a Vietnamese socialist state governed by law.

Before the ceremony, the delegates will lay wreaths and pay tribute at the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh, offer incense in remembrance of fallen soldiers at the memorial on Bac Son Street, and visit an exhibition showcasing the 80-year history of the formation and development of the National Assembly.
