Ferguson demonstration sees calm

(VOVworld) – In Ferguson, Missouri state of the US, National Guard troops and police have arrested more than 400 people who protested against the US court’s decision not to try a white policeman in the killing of an unarmed black teenager.

The demonstrators have burnt cars and shops in the St. Louis suburb and around the United States. St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar told reporters on Wednesday that generally, it was a much better night after the third day of rioting. He added that there was little arson or gunfire, and that lawlessness was confined to a relatively small group. Police have closely watched demonstrations and protests in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Atlanta. There have been widespread demonstrations in the US, reflecting people’s outrage against perceived racial discrimination.
