General Secretary To Lam talks on the phone with China’s top leader Xi Jinping

(VOVWORLD) -General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam held a phone conversation with Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping on Monday from Hanoi.

General Secretary Lam said Vietnam treasures and gives top priority to developing relations with China, adding that bilateral relations need to continue to be a stable, long-term, and deeply strategically linked pillar.

The Vietnamese Party and State are always ready to work with the Chinese Party and State to further the close ties between the two socialist neighboring countries under the leadership of the Party, accompanying and assisting each other on the path to realizing the aspirations and visions for development that the two Parties and two countries have defined.

General Secretary Lam proposed that both sides work together to elevate political trust to a new level to comprehensively lead cooperation in all areas, and continue to strengthen regular and flexible high-level exchanges. He called for upholding the pivotal role of key sectors, including diplomacy, defense, and public security; and boosting breakthroughs and significant changes in areas of substantive cooperation.

The Party leader requested that General Secretary and President Xi pay attention to expanding imports of Vietnamese goods, especially agricultural and aquatic products. He urged both sides to prioritize railway cooperation, strengthen high-quality investment cooperation linked to technology transfer and human resource training; and promote sci-tech cooperation as a new highlight.

General Secretary and President Xi said China is ready to work with the Vietnamese Party and State to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating its strategic significance to a new level. China agrees with the assessments of the international and regional situation and the measures to promote relations between the two Parties and two countries that General Secretary To Lam has outlined, he added.

China’s top leader reiterated readiness to work with Vietnam to strengthen high-level exchanges, share experiences, and learn from each other in Party management and national governance. He stressed the need to effectively organize the mechanism of the Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation and cooperation in diplomacy, defense, and public security, adding China is ready to import high-quality agricultural products from Vietnam and to continue encouraging Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Vietnam.

General Secretary and President Xi expressed his hope that both sides will do well in youth exchanges, local cooperation, and media information, confirming China's willingness to support Vietnam in building the Museum of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Both sides agreed to maintain close exchanges and coordination at multilateral forums and to better control and manage differences.
