Hanoi’s election preparations proceeding on schedule

Hanoi's election preparations have to date been comprehensive and systematic, ensuring compliance with the schedule and legal regulations, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh said on Thursday.
NA Vice Chairman Dinh, who is also head of the supervisory and inspection delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Election Council, worked with the Hanoi Election Committee on the preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
From now until March 15, the election day, the city needs to continue assigning "clear responsibilities to specific individuals and tasks," closely monitor the progress of each task, review and update the voter list, and ensure citizens' right to vote, Mr. Dinh said. He also stressed the need to promote information and communication before, during, and after election day.
Hanoi will have 32 National Assembly deputies and 125 People's Council deputies to be elected, making it one of the localities with the largest number of representatives. After three rounds of consultations, Hanoi has selected and compiled the official list of qualified candidates. The total number of voters in the city is over 6 million. The voter list has been compiled and linked to the National Population Database and the VNeID application.
