India, Japan hold 18th Strategic Dialogue

(VOVWORLD) -Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and his Japanese counterpart Motegi Toshimitsu co-chaired the 18th Strategic Dialogue on Friday in New Delhi.

The two sides agreed to continue promoting comprehensive cooperation based on three main pillars: security and defense; economy, investment and innovation; and people-to-people exchanges.

They also agreed to launch the Japan-India Private Sector Dialogue on Economic Security, focusing on semiconductors, strategic minerals, information and communications technology, clean energy and pharmaceuticals.

They stressed the need to establish a Strategic Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence within the framework of the Japan–India AI Cooperation Initiative (JAI). Both  reaffirmed close coordination in promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific strategy and in aligning positions on the Korean Peninsula issue.
