In his opening speech at the Executive Committee Meeting of APF, the consultative body of the International Organization of La Francophonie, on Wednesday in Can Tho City, Chairman Man said that over the years, with efforts, solidarity and close ties with the People, the Vietnamese National Assembly has built a legal system that is sufficient in quantity and improved in quality in all important areas of social life.
Vietnam values the role of APF, which, through initiating and implementing inter-parliamentary cooperation programs, is promoting a rule-of-law state and human rights, spreading the use of French and beefing up friendly relations and solidarity among parliamentary institutions. According to Mr, Man, APF is contributing to the strong development of parliamentary diplomacy activities, enhancing the position and voice of parliamentarians in regional and global issues.
“Amid global uncertainty, the APF Executive Committee's political discussion on "the role of the Francophone Community in the face of changes in the world order" is timely and important. Reviewing the political situation in member countries, through the Action Plan to implement the Strategic Framework for the period 2023-2030 and other major agendas, I believe that the APF and the Francophone Community will increasingly affirm their significant role, together with other multilateral institutions and on the foundation of international law and the UN Charter, will create a framework to forge cooperation and coordinated action in responding to common global challenges.”
National Assembly Chairman Man added that the Can Tho Declaration on Francophone Cooperation on Sustainable Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change Response, unanimously adopted by delegates attending the Forum held over the past two days, is a major contribution of Francophone cooperation.
