NA Vice Chairwoman discusses Vietnam’s cooperation with EU, Belgium

(VOVWORLD) - A Vietnamese delegation led by National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh paid a working visit to Belgium from Monday to Wednesday to discuss parliamentary, economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Vietnam, Belgium, and EU.

Vice Chairwoman Thanh held talks with European Parliament (EP) Vice-President Younous Omarjee on Wednesday. The two sides agreed to prioritize boosting trade and investment cooperation, particularly effective implementation of the EU- Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). 

They also emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration in science-technology, innovation, green transition, digital transformation, and high-quality human resource training. Ms. Thanh proposed the EP expedite EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) ratification.

On Tuesday, Vice Chairwoman Thanh held talks with First Vice President of the Belgian Senate Andries Gryffoy. Both agreed that bilateral cooperation still holds vast potential, particularly in trade and investment, in areas where Belgium has strengths and Vietnam has demand, such as smart ports, high technology, healthcare, agriculture, and energy.
