National Assembly Chief Tran Thanh Man visits late Chairman Nguyen Huu Tho’s family
(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man paid tribute to late National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Huu Tho in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026.

Meeting with the family of the late leader, Mr Man highlighted Mr. Tho’s significant contributions to Vietnam’s National Assembly throughout its 80-year history (1946–2026), particularly in the struggle for national liberation and the process of nation-building. He also commended the family’s continued contributions to the implementation of the Party’s and State’s policies.
Chairman Man said 2026 would be a pivotal year for consolidating the cadre workforce, stressing the importance of strengthening grassroots-level officials to meet governance requirements at both central and local levels.
On the same day, Mr Man also visited and extended Lunar New Year greetings to several former Party and State leaders residing in Ho Chi Minh City.
Late National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Huu Tho was born on July 10, 1910, in Long Phu village, Cho Lon province, now Ben Luc commune, Tay Ninh province.
At the first session of the 7th National Assembly, he was elected Chairman of the National Assembly and concurrently served as Vice Chairman of the Council of State.
During his tenure, he focused on deliberating and deciding major socio-economic issues, the implementation of the Constitution and laws, and key matters concerning state planning, the state budget, and national interests.
