An online meeting Wednesday between 5,000 members of the Gen-Z protesters to discuss potential candidates for Nepal’s next government gave the majority of support to Sushila Karki.
Karki, 72, was appointed Nepal's first female Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in 2016 by then-President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council.
Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population said Wednesday that the death toll from Nepal's youth-led protests on Monday had reached 30. More than 1,000 people were injured, of whom 713 have been discharged from hospital.
