(VOVWORLD) - General Secretary To Lam met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community living and studying in Cambodia on Friday as part of his State visit to Cambodia. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also attended the meeting.

The Party leader's shared Vietnam's new development opportunities following the 14th National Party Congress, highlighting the goal of entering a new era of strong development, autonomy and self-reliance.
Vietnam aims to become a developing country with modern industry by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Viet Nam–Cambodia relations have never been closer or better understood.
He said: “We must strive to make travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh take only one hour. That requires expressways and high-speed railways. We must consider road and river transport, as well as connectivity in telecommunications, finance, taxation, science and technology, and human resource development.”

On the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year, he presented 20,000 USD and gift packages to support disadvantaged members of the Vietnamese community.

In the evening, Senate President and Acting Head of State Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen hosted a State banquet in honor of General Secretary To Lam.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and senior leaders of both countries.

Earlier the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet to review bilateral cooperation and discuss measures to further promote ties.

Later that evening, General Secretary To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation returned to Ha Noi, successfully concluding the State visit to Cambodia.
