PM pays tribute to fallen heroes in Con Dao

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended memorial ceremonies in Con Dao district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, on Saturday to pay tribute to heroic martyrs, as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, and the liberation of Con Dao.

Attending a ceremony at Con Dao Temple, adjacent to Hang Duong Cemetery, Prime Minister Chinh and other delegates offered flowers and incense in remembrance of the immense contributions of President Ho Chi Minh, predecessors, heroic martyrs, and fellow countrymen who laid down their lives for national independence and freedom.
Earlier, at Hang Keo Cemetery, the Prime Minister offered incense and observed a moment of silence in honor of the revolutionary soldiers and compatriots who sacrificed for the nation.

He also presented gifts to war veteran and former Con Dao prisoner Nguyen Xuan Vien and Mrs. Vo Thi Thanh, a relative of martyr Le Nhien, in Con Dao district.
