(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday urged completion of the construction of Long Thanh International Airport by the third quarter of 2026, so commercial operations can begin in the fourth quarter.

During an inspection of the project, he noted that it was approved by the National Assembly in 2015 and by the Government in 2020, but that construction didn’t begin until August 2023. The first test flight took place in September 2025.

After more than two years, several components have been completed or are nearing completion, including the air traffic control center, the runway and the apron, and the passenger terminal is in its final stages.
