(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang on Saturday attended a ceremony, where Thanh Hoa province’s Armed Forces received the title “Hero of the Armed Forces in the renewal period”.

President Sang said national construction and defence are Vietnam’s two strategic tasks. He noted that amidst world complicated situation, the Vietnamese Party, people and army are required to fulfill the task of national industrialization and modernization and international integration so as to build Vietnam into an industrialized nation by 2020. Sang added that Thanh Hoa has strategic position in national defence, so the province should show its major role and responsibility: “To accomplish this historical mission, Thanh Hoa’s Party Committee, administration, people and the armed forces need to continue understand thoroughly the Strategy for National Defence in the new situation, consolidate an all-people defence and closely combine military and economic development tasks. Efforts should be made to bring into full play the people’s strength and the entire political system of the province for national defence and security”.

The President urged Thanh Hoa to pay more attention to building strong armed forces by educating them ideological politics, strengthening discipline and improving the quality of the training of military personnel who are absolutely loyal to the Party, fatherland and people.
