(VOVWORLD) - The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam concluded on Friday afternoon at the National Convention Center in Hanoi after five working days.

The closing session was attended by nearly 1,600 delegates, veteran revolutionaries, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, representatives of intellectuals and scholars, foreign diplomats, and representatives of international organizations.
Le Quoc Minh, a member of the Congress’s Secretariat, announced that as of Friday, the Congress had received nearly 900 congratulatory letters and messages from political parties, organizations, international friends, and overseas Vietnamese.
On behalf of the Congress Presidium, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said the 14th Party Central Committee elected 19 members to the 14th Politburo with overwhelming consensus. The 14th Party Central Committee unanimously elected To Lam, General Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee, as General Secretary of the 14th Party Central Committee.

The Committee also elected a 13-member Secretariat, including Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, and Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Van Quang.
The 14th Party Central Committee unanimously endorsed the re-election of Tran Cam Tu as Permanent Member of the Secretariat for the new term, and the Politburo assigned him to continue in this role.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said the Committee approved a list of 25 members of the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission for the new term, comprising 23 full-time and two part-time members. Tran Sy Thanh was elected Head of the Commission.

Speaking after the introduction of the 200 members of the 14th Party Central Committee to the Congress, Party General Secretary To Lam said:
“Before the Party and the people, we will devote ourselves wholeheartedly and with all our strength to serving the noble cause of the Party, the revolution, and the people. The 14th Party Central Committee pledges absolute loyalty to the Party’s goals and ideals, placing national interests above all else; firmly maintaining independence and self-reliance; and resolutely safeguarding the Fatherland and the people. The Committee will continue Party building and rectification to ensure the Party remains clean and strong; preserve unity and consensus; strengthen Party discipline and the rule of law; improve mechanisms for power control; resolutely combat corruption, wastefulness, and negativity; and ensure effective personnel work,” he said.
General Secretary To Lam stressed that the road ahead involves many major tasks, requiring high determination, strict discipline, and relentless effort.
“Before the Party and the people, we pledge to remain united, work earnestly, act resolutely, and strive to the utmost to live up to the trust of the Party, the people, and the Congress delegates. We are determined to lead the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and bring the country toward strength and prosperity in the new era.”
At the closing session, delegates voted to adopt the Congress’s Resolution. General Secretary To Lam then delivered the closing address, affirming the Congress’s complete success. The closing session was followed by an international press conference.
On Friday evening, a special art performance titled “Under the Glorious Flag of the Party” was held at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi to celebrate the Congress’s success.
