Ukraine talks temporarily suspended

(VOVWORLD) - Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday that Ukraine negotiations have been temporarily suspended with the US now focused on other priorities.

In an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times, Peskov said the pause in discussions was “understandable” given the dangerous conflict in the Middle East. He said Russia remains open to a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, adding that the situation on the battlefield is developing favorably for Moscow.

On Friday, Russia’s RIA Novosti quoted Peskov as saying that Moscow hoped a new round of trilateral talks on Ukraine would be held soon. No details were given regarding the time and venue, but Peskov said Russia appreciates the goodwill of the US in acting as a mediator to promote a peaceful settlement.
