PM Chinh said Vietnam wants to strengthen trade cooperation with Cambodia, particularly for rice, cashew nuts, and rubber, in order to boost processing and import-export activities. He stressed the importance of increasing connectivity at border crossings and exploring measures to raise bilateral trade to 20 billion USD in the near future.

He asked for more favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business in Cambodia, and called on both sides to continue close coordination on border demarcation, marker planting, and land border management.

Mr. Chinh urged Cambodia to facilitate the legal status of people of Vietnamese origin, including the granting of citizenship, to help them stabilize their lives. He praised Ambassador Kimtha’s contributions to promoting cooperation between ministries, sectors, and localities, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges.

The Ambassador praised Vietnam’s policy of reform and streamlining its organizational apparatus. She said she believes Vietnam’s 14th National Party Congress will be a great success and that Vietnam will achieve its two “centenary goals”: becoming a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030, and becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045.
