Vietnam donates half a million USD medical supplies to China

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam has donated medical supplies worth half a million USD to help the Chinese people cope with the  novel coronavirus (nCoV) outbreak.

At a ceremony held in Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport on Sunday, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung presented respiratory aids, anti-bacterial protective coveralls, gloves, and masks to the Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo.

Deputy Minister Dung said Vietnam highly appreciates the timely leadership of the Chinese Party and government and great efforts of the Chinese local officials and people in fighting nCoV. He expressed his hope that China will soon control and prevent the epidemic, adding that Vietnam is taking aggressive measures to protect people’s health, actively share information, experiences, and study results with the World Health Organization and other countries, and boost ASEAN’s joint effort to work side by side with China and other countries in combating the epidemic.

Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo once again thanked the Vietnamese leaders for sending sympathy and donating medical devices, and the Vietnam Red Cross Society for raising funds to help Chinese provinces fight the epidemic. He said the precious donation will be sent immediately to Wuhan city.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Red Cross Society donated medical supplies worth 100,000 USD to Chinese people. 

The overall confirmed cases novel coronavirus infection on the Chinese mainland had reached 40,171 by the end of Sunday, and 908 people had died of the disease, China's National Health Commission said.
