(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam and Jordan on Monday agreed on the need to strengthen exchanges and sharing of legislative experiences and update information on the organizational structure and activities of each country's parliament, while promoting exchanges and cooperation between parliamentarians and considering the establishment of a Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The agreement was reached during talks in Hanoi on Monday between National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and visiting Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives Mazen Turki El Qadi.
During the talks following the welcoming ceremony, the two leaders agreed to strengthen political and diplomatic relations, considering this a foundation for furthering their comprehensive cooperation. They also stressed the need to increase the presence and support of citizens and businesses of both countries, including considering the establishment of permanent representative offices in both countries.
Both sides pledged to play a bridging role in ramping up cooperation between Vietnam and the Middle East, between Jordan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and between the two regions.

Vietnam and Jordan will continue to coordinate and support each other in multilateral parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), contributing their voices for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
Following the talks, the two leaders signed the “Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the House of Representatives of Jordan”, creating a framework to boost parliamentary cooperation between the two countries in the future.
