At the Government’s regular meeting for February, which was connected online to the headquarters of the People’s Committees of 34 centrally run provinces and cities, the Prime Minister highlighted positive socio-economic results in February and in the first two months of the year.

The average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the two-month period rose 3%; the monetary market and exchange rates were basically stable; total import-export turnover reached 155.7 billion USD, up 22%; development investment kept growth momentum; and the number of newly established enterprises and business households increased sharply.

The Prime Minister called for continued actions to implement resolutions of the 14th National Party Congress and the Politburo, while closely watching developments for flexible, effective policy responses. He requested close attention to potential negative impacts on Vietnam, particularly the conflicts in the Middle East and other parts of the world.

“The State Bank of Vietnam has published the credit growth ceiling for 2026 and will adjust it in a flexible, timely and effective manner in line with actual conditions. Ensuring macroeconomic stability remains an overarching objective. Monetary policies should keep stable interest rates and exchange rates, and ensure flexible, balanced and reasonable credit flows,” said Mr. Chinh.

The Prime Minister also called for greater efforts to improve legislation, reform administrative procedures, remove obstacles to production and business, and effectively use resources. He stressed the need to fine tune regulations on the organization of the administrative apparatus, ensuring the effective operation of the two-tier local government model.

PM Chinh urged thorough preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels, the 2nd Plenum of the Party Central Committee and the first session of the 16th National Assembly.
