(VOVWORLD) - The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has announced its list of 20 nominees for the final round of Vietnamese Outstanding Young Face Award 2023. The list includes 5 students active in academics and social activities. Dang Cat Tien, a 9th grader from Thai Nguyen secondary school in the central province of Khanh Hoa, is the youngest to be nominated.

(VOVWORLD) - Mong ethnic women learn to embroider and sew at a young age. Even today Mong women embroider and sew for their families’ needs. Many even open tailor shops and earn their living –and at the same time preserve their traditional cultural values – by making clothes. Thao Thi De of Phong Lai commune, Thuan Chau district, Son La province, is among the Mong women that keep the craft of making traditional costumes alive.

(VOVWORLD) - For the past 15 years, Major Ninh Cong Khanh, military medical officer of the Technical Logistics Department of the Da Nang City Boarder Guard, has provided free medical examinations to thousands of poor people. Khanh has received a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister for his outstanding contribution to the community in 2019.

(VOVWORLD) - Major Le Thi Minh Thuy of the Vietnamese Navy and her colleagues have drawn hundreds of digital nautical charts and seabed topographic maps, and built geographic databases. This work, which helps to protect the sovereignty of Vietnam’s sea and islands, requires meticulous accuracy.

(VOVWORLD) - Nguyen Hoang Anh, a youngster from Hanoi, has worked hard to develop an art technique called “Hoa kim sa” (drawing using metal materials). She founded her Hoa Gam team to honor the beauty of Vietnamese culture and traditional art through this technique.

(VOVWORLD) - Bach Tuyet, 78, an artist of the Vietnamese folk music genre - cai luong or reformed opera, has been honored on Forbes’ ‘50 Over 50: Asia 2024’ list of influential Asia-Pacific women. Bach Tuyet was introduced by Forbes as a ‘household staple’ in Vietnam, famous for iconic cai luong performances. Her name was associated with many classic cai luong works during the 1960s, 70s and 80s. Tuyet has been called ‘a precious gem of Cai luong’.

(VOVWORLD) - La Van Hoa, an Thai ethnic minority person, is a pioneer in doing business in Han hamlet, Que Phong district, Nghe An province. At the age of 58, he was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam. According to Hoa, being a Party member makes it easier for him to communicate the Party’s guidelines to the people to develop the homeland and have a better life.

(VOVWORLD) - Le Minh Duc, a 12th grader from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, is one of 14 nominees as an Outstanding Young Citizen of Ho Chi Minh City 2023. Duc not only has excellent academic grades, but also has a lot of initiative in scientific research and robot manufacturing.

(VOVWORLD) - A brocade embroidery class has just been opened for Dao ethnic women in Son Duong commune, Ha Long city, in Quang Ninh province. The class is taught by Truong Thi Dong, a Dao Thanh Y artisan with a wish to keep the Dao’s brocade embroidery craft alive.

(VOVWORLD) - Preserving cultural values and traditions for future generations is a great concern of many people of the Bru-Van Kieu ethnic minority. Ho Cho, who lives in Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province, is one of them.
