The airline is the first Indian carrier to operate a direct route between Mumbai and Hanoi, with four flights per week.
Hanoi is also Akasa Air’s first destination in Vietnam, marking a new step in the airline’s expansion into Southeast Asia.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Trinh Minh Manh said the new route is more than just an additional air connection. He described it as a new aviation bridge linking Vietnam and India, connecting their cities, economies and, most importantly, their people.
The ambassador said the choice of Mumbai and Hanoi as the two endpoints is particularly meaningful. Mumbai is a leading financial and commercial hub and one of India’s major economic gateways, while Hanoi is Vietnam’s capital and a political, economic and cultural center, as well as a gateway to Southeast Asia.
