According to the National Assembly’s Resolution, Dong Nai city was officially established on April 30, 2026, bordering Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong province, Tay Ninh province, and Cambodia. The city has a natural area of more than 12,700 square kilometers and a population of about five million people, with 95 commune-level administrative units, including 33 wards and 62 communes.
Party General Secretary and State President To Lam told the event: “From today, Dong Nai must set higher development standards for itself, striving to become a driving urban center with strong competitiveness and broad influence over the Southeast region and the whole country. The city should aim to rank among the most livable and startup-friendly cities in Asia and the world, following the pioneering examples of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. To realize this vision, every official, Party member, citizen, and business must work together to make the city more developed, more civilized, greener, cleaner, more beautiful, more livable, and capable of contributing more to the country.”
General Secretary and State President To Lam asked Dong Nai City to transform its advantages into new development values, including strategic multimodal transport infrastructure, a strong industrial foundation, logistics networks, its position as an inter-regional gateway, an expansive border area, and resilient and creative people.
