One of the most anticipated results is the early deployment of direct flights between the two countries, something that the business community and tourism industry of both sides have long awaited, the expert said, adding direct air connections will significantly contribute to people-to-people exchanges, trade, and tourism.

Fernando praised General Secretary and President Lam's emphasis on the importance of effectively implementing the agreements reached. Given Sri Lanka's ongoing economic challenges, expanding access to the Vietnamese market and the East Asian market is considered particularly important for Sri Lanka.

Commenting on future cooperation prospects, Fernando specifically noted the suggestion by General Secretary and President Lam to establish a new framework for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. He also spoke highly of the Vietnamese top leader’s assessment of Sri Lanka's potential to become a logistics hub for Vietnamese businesses seeking access to the South Asian market.
